NOTICE: 2010 AIHPA AGM

(Sorry, this photo was taken late in the event, and many were not able to appear...)

The 2010 National Rifle Matches, a great success.

The 2010 AIHPA National Rifle Matches hosted by Tamworth Peel Valley Rifle Club were shot 14-16 May.  They were very well run and very well contested thanks to the many volunteers, and the many shooters.

The weather was perfect for a mid May day of shooting, but again the Tamworth winds and early afternoon shadows were hard to overcome by the most serious of shooters.

The numbers overall were good, but mostly due to the QLD shooters came in force.  NSW shooter numbers seemed much lower than previous years.  It was a shame NSW didn’t front with a little more commitment, but overall, all organisers and the AIHPA are pleased with the outcome.  Hopefully the 2011 National Matches will have massive numbers from the rival states, and our shooter friends from ACT, VIC and WA, who have tasted XC shooting, will support the best National Rifle Matches in Australia.  The National Matches are the best matches in Australia, and all should make absolute commitment to attend.

The AIHPA end of an era, but look for bright future with new leaders…following the 2010 AGM.

After 7 years as President of the AIHPA, David Waters stepped aside, along with all the other executive positions, to allow a completely fresh approach to the AIHPA in the coming years.

The AGM was well attended, with many good points raised by incumbents and members.  After some reviews and reports of 2009, all positions were declared vacant.  Matt Avard stood for President, and was unopposed in gaining the top job.  Matt is a keen AIHPA member, and XC style shooter.  We all trust Matt will do his best president the association into the future.

The AGM saw also some fresh faced into the other executive positions, namely:

Senior Vice President               Kim Ellis

Junior Vice President                Norm Baynes

Secutary/Treasurer                   Brad Avard

Committee (alpha order)           Craig Mahoney
