“ACT TERRITORIAL TITLES”

SERVICE/FIELD/SPORTER/HUNTER/OPEN

ALL CENTREFIRE RIFLES WELCOME

HOSTED BY SSAA ACT

 8 MARCH 2009

The inaugural ACT Territorials, for the International Match Course, was a great success.  Simon Ross put on a fantastic meet, even though support from the local club was a little light-on with numbers totalling 15.  In hindsight, it might not have been the best weekend, given that it was a long weekend in Canberra, and many might have chosen to travel or occupy the extended period with other festivities rather than shoot.

2x IMC’s were shot on the one day, all at 200m using reduced targets (a serious option for other limited distance ranges). This gave all shooter the opportunity to enter 2 different spec results towards the annual Grand Tour Series in 1 day of attendance, along with a small fee which also gave them a free lunch.

There were some reservations before the meet regarding possible success given the fixed distance.  Now it is behind us, it was a great success and we look forward to more of these types of meets in the future.  We started around 9.30, finished around 3.30, with over an hour break for lunch, and additional scoring routines.  Considerable increased shooter participation in future meets will be no problem to handle.

Next year, there are comments about shooting this match back to the 600 on the pits range, however the great time we all had with the luxury of shooting under cover, etc, it will be hard to leave the SSAA range setup.  However, the meet next year will probably be a different weekend to not clash with the Canberra holiday, and will probably be a 2-day meet with SSAA Saturday, and AIHPA Sunday.

Well done to all that attended, and Simon Ross for his efforts.
