The Cooee Cup has been held at Gilgandra now for 3 years, and every year the spirit of the weekend is reminded to us thanks to a memorial recital and a reading of the ode.

20 shooters enjoyed some windy but cool to warm conditions.  Gilgandra put on another enjoyable meet, and the local dorm provided excellent facilities with shooters treated to some excellent home country cooking.

Results and some happy snaps indicate good and bad shooting stories that will no doubt grow over time...

The night of the old tea bag

On Friday we sat around the fire to share a yarn and a gag ,
When into the mix went the old Tea Bag.

What the hell is that? asked good old Aubrey.
And the explanations flowed from all and a sundry.

All of you Aussies are sick
Mangina’s and all,
completely obsessed with your dick and your balls

All roared with laughter , we were having so much fun
Then DVJ said come on guys haven’t you got something I haven’t already done!

Then Chris told stories of Camp Perry
of trailer parks and Texas
and Marines with testicles hanging like cherries.

Poor old Josh was cursed
For when ever he spoke
he was completely enveloped in clouds of thick smoke.

Then more stories followed some of them dire
even the old  ky went into the fire

It was all too funny too much for my head
Early kick off  tomorrow , so quick off to bed.

FRIDAY    7.30am Arrival and Sign-on.  All rifle types shoot concurrently.

Warm Up - before each match.  5 shots in 5 minutes @ selected distance.

MATCH 1   IMC SERVICE COOEE CUP

MATCH 1a     - 1st rifle spec/type choice (All Rifle Specifications).

                        100,     Slow                - 2 sighters then 10 shots, Standing, on NRA SR target – 12min.

                        200,     Rapid               - 2 sighters, 10 shots 60 seconds, Sitting or Kneeling, SR target.

                        300,     Rapid               - 2 sighters then 10 shots 70 sec, Prone.(Scoped Internal mags-10sec extra)

                        400,     Deliberate         - 2 sighters then 20 shots, Prone, NRA SR-3 or MR-1 target – 22min

MATCH 2   TMC - TACTICAL COOEE CUP “ANY Rifle”(any sight) (bi-pod or front rest etc only)

Warm Up         5 shots in 5 minutes @ 400.                   Entire match shot on SR-3 or MR-1 target.

                        - Deliberate, Prone, 10 rounds in 6minutes (no marking).

                        - Double Snap, Prone, 5x 6 second exposures, 2 shots per exposure – 10rnds total.

SATURDAY       7.30am Arrival and Sign-on.  All rifle types shoot concurrently.

MATCH 1b     - Same course for 2nd rifle spec/type – your choice (All Rifle Specifications)

SUNDAY            7.30am Arrival and Sign-on.  All rifle types shoot concurrently.

MATCH 3   AMC SERVICE COOEE CUP

            300 Slow Fire,             Prone U/S        2 sighters + 10 rounds              7.5min, 4x4

            300  Rapid Fire,           Prone U/S        2 sighters + 5+5 rounds            30-30-30sec,   4x4

            300  Snap Fire,            Prone U/S        2 sighters + 10 rounds              3sec per shot,   4x4

TROPHIES:     Open Class trophies for Juniors – Top 3.

Cost: $45 for all rifle matches Thur, Fri, Sat & Sun.  Or, $30 Per Day.

Free competitor basic BBQ sausage sizzle lunch Fri, Sat & Sun.  Pre-nominations not required – just show up.

Accommodation Thursday through Sunday:  Full facility camping 3km from range for small fee of $10/night.

Full facility Dorm room accommodation available for $20/night (incl breakfast).

SPECIAL: Thur, Fri & Sat night dorm accommodation package with Fri & Sat dinner - $50

Travel along Mendooran Rd (off Newell Hwy) east from Gilgandra, towards Mendooran, for approx 7-8km.

Look for a northern turnoff side road “Bearbung Rd” - sign posted to Rifle Range 2.5km.
